Well……So important are good hand positions especially for beginners,plenty of <AIR> between your hand & the neck of the guitar should really help with barre chords,it actually gives you more room on the fretboard side
What i usually see is the palm of the hand touching the neck which ends up giving you less not more!
Check out the hand pics front & back,you rarely seem to find pics from the back perspective which for me is the KEY to good technique,the front perspective i kind of like the tip of the iceberg.
All the ground work is happening from the back,not that what your fingers are doing isn’t important because it is
Don’t forget though these hand positions change Depending on what your playing so no ONE rule fits all im afraid
